21st Summer Deaflympics Athletes Training

To prepare best the country's budding athletes, for the first time, the Phil-Sports Federation of the Deaf arranged extensive trainings to prepare them for the coming games. Through the assistance of Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Bowling Congress, the PSC Bowling Lanes is provided for the athletes as training facility.

Bowl for a Cause: 1st PSFD Bowling Cup

Last November 30, 2008 at the Paeng's Midtown Bowl in Robinson's Place Ermita, the PSFD held its first activity which was a bowling cup. It was the federation's fundraising activity to support the country's budding athletes to the 21st Summer Deaflympics that will be held in Taipei, Taiwan on Septembr 5 to 15, 2009. The mentioned activity also served as qualifying round in selection of the best athletes to compete in Deaflympics event.

2nd Deaf Women in Sports Leadership Seminar


Organized by the Asia-Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation (APDSC), in behalf of ICSD, the PSFD sent PSFD Treasurer: Ms. Carolyn B. Dagani and PSFD Executive Board: Ms. Sherie Lyn C. Ong as representatives of the country to the 2nd Deaf Women in Sports Leadership Seminar held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on September 25 to 27, 2008.

41st ICSD Extraordinary Congress

PSFD Secretary-General, Mr. Michael T. Vea, went to Bratislava, Slovakia as a Philippines' delegate to the 41st ICSD Extraordinary Congress. The proposal about Deaf Sports Reform was thoroughly discussed during the congress. At its end, many member countries of the ICSD supported the proposal presented.

Organization Meetings

The PSFD participated Organization Meetings organized by the mother organization of the Philippines, the Philippine Federation of the Deaf (PFD) last March 9, 2008. It was attended by different organizations: Philippine Federation of the Deaf - Youth Sectio (PFD-YS), Filipino Deaf Women Health and Crisis Center (FDWHCC) and PSFD itself. Through the said meeting, the PFD encouraged the cooperation of its wing-sections in serving the needs of the Filipino Deaf community.

Meeting with PHILSPADA

In order to gain recognition of the different sports organization, the PSFD met with the Executives of Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled (PHILSPADA) where they asked for recognition that will help PSFD in making its future activities possible. The PHILSPADA agreed to provide necessary assistance to the federation to elevate the spirit of sports to the whole Filipino Deaf community. In addition, the PSFD is very grateful to the assistance of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf and PHILSPADA for their unwavering service to the Filipino Deaf.
