About PSFD
The Phil-Sports Federation of the Deaf or PSFD is the sports federation of the Filipino Deaf that caters different sports related activities in national and international levels. Our federation is a wing section of the Philippine Federation of the Deaf, also a recognized full member of two international sports organizations: the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), and Asia-Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation (APDSC). It was formally established on May 24, 2007 during the 4th National Congress of the Deaf and 6th Philippine Federation of the Deaf (PFD) General Assembly which was held at Ampid San Mateo, Rizal.
PSFD is aims the following:
- Show equality of the Deaf to Hearing people in sports.
- Produce top caliber Deaf athletes.
- Participate in various Deaf sports in regional, national and international levels
In addition, the DSAP is guided by the following objectives:
- Show uniqueness of Deaf culture through sports.
- Provide sports training to Deaf athletes.
- Serve as the pinnacle of a unified national sports promotion and development program.
- Bring together in harmony and solidarity all sports sectors including National Sports Association and all concerned organizations, both government and private.
- Encourage the entire Filipino Deaf citizenry to participate in physical fitness and sports activities.
