PSFD History
It began on October 9, 2006 when the first ad hoc committee meeting was conducted by the Philippine Federation of the Deaf. Twelve Deaf individuals were present that became the first ad hoc committees to establish a new sports organization for the Deaf, and adapted a new name– Deaf Sports Association of the Philippines or DSAP.
Finally on May 24, 2007 during the celebration of 4th National Congress of the Deaf and 6th PFD General Assembly at San Mateo Rizal, the Deaf Sports Association of the Philippines was formally established with nine individuals who took seat of Executive Board Members, they are: Ma. Lovella Catalan, George Lintag, Michael Vea, Carolyn Dagani, Richard Sunico, Yvette Apurado-Bernardo, Sherlie Lyn Ong, Kim Fuentes and Christopher Feraris.
In the middle of 2008, during the meeting of the Executive Board, they felt that the term "Association" in DSAP is obviously not a suitable term to an organization that is responsible to bring sports activities to Deaf Filipinos in national and international levels. This led to transformation of an organization into a federation and thus gave birth to its new name -- Phil-Sports Federation of the Deaf.
Today, the new federation is currently active is bringing different sports activities to the Filipino Deaf from both inside and outside the country.
